Dr. Jackie Poapst is the Director of Debate at George Mason, and is entering her 13th year on the coaching staff. Jackie received her PhD in Communication from George Mason. She debated for Liberty University, where she graduated with Bachelor of Sciences in Criminal Justice and Psychology.
She is an experienced instructor with the George Mason Communication Department, teaching college courses in Argumentation and Public Policy, Argumentation Theory, Mass Communication, Basic Foundations of Debate, and Persuasion Theory. Jackie has been teaching at the George Mason Debate Institute for 12 years, and became Director in 2015. During her first year as Director, the institute became the largest debate institute in Virginia. Jackie has also taught elementary and middle school debate and public speaking at Ivy Christian College.

Nick Loew is an alum of George Mason University, and previously debated for three years at Perry High School in Ohio. In high school he won the OSDA State Championship twice, twice qualified to NSDA nationals, and won multiple speaker awards. In college, he has broken to elimination rounds of various regional and national tournaments, most notably including the Quarterfinals of the ADA championship and Doubles of the National Debate Tournament.
Nick currently serves as the Assistant Director of Debate at George Mason University where he teaches argumentation and public policy courses in the department of Communication. This will be Nick's first year serving as the Assistant Director of GMDI, after serving several summers as a lab leader at the Dartmouth Debate Institute.
